  WELCOME

On behalf of Tavern Motor Club, Bristol and the Royal Air Force Motor Sports Association may I welcome you to the regulations for THE FAT ALBERT STAGES 2011, which takes place on Saturday 29th October.

Tavern Motor Club will be working alongside the Royal Air Force Motor Sports Association to bring you 8 Stages, each with approximately 10 Miles of highly competitive action.  Again the event uses the MOD facilities at Keevil Airfield, just outside Trowbridge, in Wiltshire.

The stages have a few changes from previous years, increasing the mileage, but will continue to feature the fast and flowing open sections of runway and perimeter roads as well as several runs through the very tight and narrow but well loved ‘nadgery bit’, plus the challenging hairpin, known commonly as ‘Dingly Dell’, to interest all types of cars and competitors.

Why FAT ALBERT?  Well, this is the nick-name of the RAF C130 Hercules Transport Aircraft that still uses Keevil as an operational airfield today.  Keevil is set in a beautiful rural location in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside; can I request that you assist us in remaining friends with the locals by complying with our reasonable requests and regulations to avoid inconvenience to them.

Being the only stage rally to use this venue, we anticipate that the entry list allocation will fill up quickly, and I therefore urge you to complete and post your entry form at the earliest opportunity. Please help us to help you, the more information you provide on your entry form regarding your previous performance, the more likely we are to be able to seed you appropriately.

Finally we are very pleased to announce that for the 5th year in a row we have been able to keep the entry fee at £190 which we believe is considerable value for money.

Watch out for news on our website - we look forward to meeting you.

Many thanks to all competitors
Hope to see you all again next year

Results will be on the web site early next week

This is what this years competitors said about the event

Jeff/Colin - Car 62 – Peugeot 205…another brilliant Fat Albert…..another fine, slickly run event.  Thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

Andy, Nav - Car 30 - PRM TigraSS1…was the most slippy I think I can remember seeing, sideways everywhere!.........and we had a spin on SS2 but had fun while it lasted.

Mike Tomlinson – Car 77 – Sunbeam…You managed the couple of slight delays well and due to the relatively high mileage of the event the loss of the last stage was no biggie.

Leighton Smith – Car 36 – Peugeot 205…First visit to Keevil and have to say it was very enjoyable………..marshalls, boy there were a lot , I counted 7 4x4's at the shi**y chicane! …….definately be back!

Paul Goodman/Roger Harper – Car 81 – Peugeot 205…Loved the layout all be it a bit slippery……enjoyed what bit we did

Lee Harding – Car 6 – Escort…yet another great event, one that makes me proud to be a Tavern member.!

Ken Powell/Richard Wise – Car 27 – Rover SD1...such a slick rally……the Fat Albert will definitely be on our coming out of retirement list of rallies to do in 2012.

Nick Townsend/Tom Elliott – Car 69 – Escort MkI...a really cracking event !!!!!! Our first Fat Albert and really lived up to our hopes for the event. Despite the interesting conditions on stage 1 the venue and layouts really were fun to drive……This is now a must do event for us.

Kevin Tappin – Car 13 – Escort…We had a great day……..The stages were all fun to drive will be back next year.
